*Utmost Joy*

A great family friend and neighbor, Jerry Rogers, passed away this week.  In his memory, i would like to share some thoughts on the very same joy that filled Jerry’s life.

Jerry and Marilyn were very involved with our wedding, opening their home to our friends who needed a place to stay, as well as picking friends up from the airport ahead of time.  Our friends who stayed with them had only great things to say about the experience, sharing that it really felt like home.  Jerry had such a giving heart, and the source of his joy and generosity was Christ Himself.

“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  My command is this:  love each other as I have loved you.”  John 15:11-12

What love filled Jerry’s heart!  And in turn, he spread Christ’s spirit so contagiously to those around him in our neighborhood and church.  To honor the memory of Jerry, let us continue to run with perseverance the race.  Let us find ways to tap into that joy which may be tough to find at times, and let’s share the joy of Christ with everyone we meet.

“”Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”  John 16:22

    Dear Mary,
Thank you for sharing your heart and your joy. Your words were so beautiful that I had Pastor read them at Jerry’s funeral. There were some there that didn’t yet know Jesus or that joy and your words were perfect.
    God Bless you and Michael.
    Love,
    Marilyn R.
